Instant Load Engine™
The Web Performance Load Tester™ was designed from the ground up to simulate as many virtual users per-computer as possible (up to 1,500 on the average modern computer at last count) but as your performance needs grow, sooner or later you'll need to use more computers to generate a test. In that case the task of generating virtual users will be split between the Web Performance Load Tester™ module and one or more "load engines", small, GUI-less programs running on the network.
Because we use our own software to do load testing services, any time spent fiddling with configuration and setup represents lost money. With that in mind, the product has been streamlined to automate as much as possible, including installation, auto recognition, auto quality control, auto updating, and automatic load balancing. The result is the most techologically advanced load testing software on the market, and no easier way to generate large numbers of users in a load test.
Instant Installation - No Added Charge
In the past using load engines meant running the installer, and that still is supported, but now there's the option of not installing anything: just create a CD-ROM using our ISO, and reboot your computer to turn it into a load engine.
Not only that, but the use of any number of load engines is free. Any Web Performance Load Tester™ license can be used with any number of load engines at no extra charges.
Auto Recognition and Upgrading
Once a load engine is started, the next step is to connect it to Web Performance Load Tester™ which will be managing the tests. If the load engine is on a local LAN, then it just automatically shows up in the Load Engine Tab in the GUI. Its that easy. (If the load engine is on a remote network using the Add Engine button and type in the IP address.)
Upgrading load engines to the latest versions is just as easy. If the version of the load engine is out of date compared to the Load Tester™ version, just click on the Update Button and the new version is automatically sent to the load engine!
Guaranteed Accuracy
How do you know the virtual users being generated are accurate? A tremendous amount of design and lab testing has been done insure accuracy, from system configuration tweaks to runtime monitoring of the load engines. The challenge is enormous because the response of any particular computer is non-linear, and the software has to work with unlimited combinations of hardware configurations. The result is a system which guards against common operating system performance problems, while continually monitoring the accuracy of the load engines.
Automatic Load Distribution
Imagine trying to generate 50,000 concurrent users across a network consisting of a huge range of hardware, from an 8-way server to a laptop. The capacity of any single computer to general virtual users could vary from 400 to 1,500 depending on the configuration, and with competitor's software you'd have to either live with inaccurate users or hand-calibrate each and every computer. Instead, Web Performance Load Tester™ continuously monitors the current performance of the load engines, and estimates each computer's load generating capacity. The task of generating the virtual users is distributed throughout the network based on each computer's capacity, with the more capable computers handling more of the load. Each computer is used efficiently according to its unique capacity.
